AR2993/2994: X flare!

I just read that in noaas forecast, but are we sure this time?

Oh 😕

@Solarflaretracker200 Im unsure because i read this on Solen.info 4 hours ago

Region 12993 [N20W31] decayed further with fragmentation of the main penumbral area and several small spots disappearing. The region was active early on April 25 producing a long duration M1.2 flare peaking at 02:00 and an impulsive M1.2 flare at 04:02 UT.
Region 12994 [N14W25] decayed slowly but could still produce M flares.

This combined with Noaa calling one of them Beta gamma delta yesterday with @mozy and @Orneno pointing out no deltas to be visible has made me suspicious of noaa :D

SWPC/NOAA sometimes makes mistakes and defining 2993 and 2994 as BGD was a clear mistake as it was clear that there are no delta's present in both regions. A reason more to learn the magnetic classification so you can see what it actually is instead 😉

Indeed! Even watching Videos on it 😀🤗

Its just frustrating. They even assigned 2994 BGD today. So now BOTH are misassigned?

Honestly, I really don't know, I am just going off a picture i took from the last Beta gamma delta we had. So I just compare the pics and see if they are similar 🤷‍♂️

Guess we just had another possible X-flare behind the limb

Hi mozi and all

I believe it won't be the last departing "spitting out" on the west limb from a region who was
quiet while looking in our direction and is now starting with fireing as soon it reaches the limb
side again.
Meanwhile I belive it will become a good solar maxima, but with big and optimized earth directed
CMEs we will continue to be very unlucky. Hope I am wrong...

Regards, Chris

Yeah we're kinda used to it at this point, It'll keep happening for sure ;)

Just woke up. Looked at the Data, Jaw dropped. 🥲

Is there a scientific reason for this stuff? Some people talk about "The earth facing quiet effect" but i dont think its something that was more than a theory.

Well, atleast we get some twinkling from our Friends 2993/4... ☺️💫

It’s possible but I doubt it.

certainly would be a rare event if it did. Presumably it is in a rapid growth phase as flaring and background flux are increasing despite it traveling further round the limb, so you never know.
