AR2975, M9 flare

There’s an interesting new sunspot complex emerging over the northeastern limb!

It seems quite sizable. It’s hard to judge the complexity yet, and we can’t see the whole thing yet. But, based on the number of C-class flares and the steady rise in the background flux, it could be a complex sunspot group!

I’m hoping for some nice flares, but who knows what it will do…661CEF75-4E90-48EB-BDA5-BB99AFE3ADE2.thumb.jpeg.bea2e5689760e9e772f59098e727f878.jpeg

Note the steady rise in background X-ray flux as the AR has rotated on. Now, it’s almost at C-class levels all the time.

These are two different groups for sure. While there is a lot of faculae which indicates decaying sunspots, this is not really true for 2975. There has been some aggressive spot growth there the past 24 hours. Keep an eye on this one. The group behind has yet to get a number.

Hello all!

Yes there is more around the corner! 😁

I wonder how it's developement will be. But thanks god, this time flux is remarkably rising and there is some hope for

a little action next days! Time is over for not appearing glancing blows!

Regards, Chris

PS: how can I supress this linespace when pushing "return" for a new line?

sometimes, doesn't a lot of faculae mean that it is developing ?

So, is 12975 the first cluster type grouping we seen, then 12976 (the big one) ? or is 12975 the entire group? Thanks

To me these are two regions, a gap between both and both have a clear leading spot with trailing spots. The spots closest to the limb might also be separate but those are also still too close to the limb to tell.

Region 2975 developed throughout the night and has some magnetic delta structures harbouring energy for M-class solar flares. It’s now the most complex region on the disk.

And it is near centre disk. Could be interesting !
