I think they were referring to the incoming northern region we were discussing previously, but I guess the context got lost. But wow, that is beautiful:

  • Beautiful big eruption on the farside. I wonder what region it might be. Very exciting 😍

Which region. This thread is not for a specific region

Ne one? Gonna go check that on my desktop when I’m done with work 😍

...and the development is enormous

Beyond east limb.jpg

Sooo there is a new incoming region that is barely visible on the limb...
I did my best to visualize what we are in for: (looks promising)

Did get pixelated by a fair bit but you can recognise what it should display, haha😂

And here in comparison to the whole limb:

Really impressive!   Been wondering about this critter for three days now!  If it is north 10-12 latitude, this should hopefully be more productive than 76 for the coming week at least.

where did you get the imagery? looks big on the picture you edited

i thought it was only a filament liftoff earlier but the region is constantly flaring/glowing

There’s yet another good looking filament near this region that looks ready to snap, could be earth facing if it can hang on for another day or so.

as the last time

SDO 4096x4096

the high resolution actually comes in handy here, because i can make better stretched pictures

Hm it looks very big on your edited picture! have you compared it to JSOC and Gong farside imagery?

actually, no

But the reason why it seems so big could be the stretching factor and the upscaling i did to mape the spot(s) visible. it might actually not be that big but its only a snip
So yeah the overall size may not be the actual size, for the last region (AR 3576) it was just fine

With all those loops it Looks a lot like 3575 post X flare.

North 27 according to Solar Soft.  M2.7 final.  What a monster fountain of plasma. Probably no cme but impressive nonetheless!!

I'm not 100% sure but it looked like a CME did launch from it. It seems to be a long duration flare as well 🙂

You’re probably correct @Parabolic we are still at M1.4 levels incredibly also. Longest duration from a probable mid level M class in a long time too!!   The abnormally slooooow rise time really threw me also.  Longer rise times are more or less typical from limb but this one really took its time!    Edit:  I can’t wait to see what that AR looks like. Hopefully it hangs on long enough for us to examine it before it blasts again.

Yeah, I think I spot something being launched too. Looks like it on the latest C2 imagery too, even though it's just a single frame.

I was originally thinking of the one circled in red, but maybe also the one to the north as well.  They both seem a little less unstable looking at the moment, but still lots of movement.
