Reminder: this thread is for solar activity like flares and CMEs launching from the sunspot.
To discuss the CME's travel or impacts on Earth, please move to this thread in the geomagnetic activity forums.
Thanks!

Well, another halo CME in C2 imagery

Faint, but looks quite a bit faster than the previous one, which looked pretty dense.  It will be interesting to see how these two CMEs interact.

What we are seeing in these first frames, wouldn't that be the initial shock front? I don't think we can see the bulk yet until we get a few more frames.

And we've been so well behaved.  No one asserted that the conjunction of the Sun, Jupiter, and Venus was the reason for the high activity from AR3664.  Such restraint deserves a kudos!

This region is amazing. Here's the development from May 4th to today. Stabilized.

Well, do us a favor and stop posting about it here over and over again, especially not using that nonsensical terminology that we all know where originates. We've already addressed it countless times

want to express my appreciation to all who have contributed both fact and learned conjecture for making these last couple of weeks the BEST educational experience... just way beyond my expectations. WOW!!

I don't wanna jinx anything but just how the region is still growing, and even getting more compact, I honestly expect bigger flares to start taking place real soon...

I'll second that comment. I'm glad I found this place. There are a bunch of very smart people here and some actual experts. All are supportive and happy to share knowledge. I've learned a lot here. I've learned enough to know that there's a lot more I have to learn. Hahaha.

:) :):D  Do you mean to the left? Or getting more compact around the mid-south? I missed a lot of imagery so i need a bit of guidance 8)

Pretty much all of these mentions

@WhereingtonEventI was able to see it this morning with my eclipse glasses quite easily. In my experience ~500 MH sized alpha spot can be seen. If the spot is not compact, usually about 600-700 MH is needed to see it.

I don’t know how I missed it. I wonder if time of day or more accurately, position of the sun in the sky, matters? Last year I saw a sunspot with my naked eyes,…. The smoke from the Canadian wildfires was just right and I will never forget it. I called home but my kids couldn’t be bothered 😕, anywho… I will have to try again later. Thanks! Also I wanted to mention that the sunspot now has more than 60 sunspots in the region. I’m sure that is the highest I have ever seen. Is sixty very high?

Ya can’t @mozy.  Unless y’all have been to UPT.  Ha.  Anyway for myself I couldn’t be happier!  Dead ground plane antenna or not. I see an Ephrata washington Ham has just worked NØOT on our 50mhz band and another antenna is easily constructed within the hour.  Mike/Hagrid.

@WhereingtonEvent had the same question here; what is the number max of sunspots for a region ? Indeed more than 60 seems high number for a region to me.

Edit : more than 60 sunspots makes sense because of the cluster. Btw we reached 60 % of chances to see an x class flare now. Never seen such an high % for an x class flare to happen. Lets hope a decent one will pop up soon !

And another amen from Washington State USA and Mike.

The sunspot's activity has been very quiet over the last few hours. Almost too quiet.

If you want to scream a lot, you have to breathe first. The apparent calm on the surface can be deceiving. We don't see activity below the surface.
People are often like that too.

you can even see where exactly within the region the flare originated. i dont know if that matters or tells anything though :)

I dont see ejecta but someone on twitter said theres ejecta. can someone maybe clear it up? @mozy @Philalethes @Jesterface23   (new to telling ejecta by 131A)

Can't really see anything that would look like an ejection.. Some minor movements on 195 but eh.. nothing compared to earlier stuff. Also was rather impulsive this time

yes thats why i was a bit confused by the tweet. thank you for confirming with me.  i can see movement top left in 195A but i dont think its related since i dont spot other dimmings?

I don't see much sign of any ejection from this region, but a little bit up and to the left there seems to be something going on, looks like a filament eruption.

I already posted about it in the filament thread :) if you like, come over!

Haha.  And we don’t know the ending either…. 😝

I am tempted to rename this AR E3664 as the “Energizer Bunny” of SC-25.  It keeps on going and going…..
