I'm not sure but looking closely at the gif youre providing im starting to think the two sunspots belong to the positive sunspot, thus making the delta "dead". what do you think? Background crackling is still there, so im not too sure. surely still gamma, but im not sure if the Region still posesses a delta as of now? The small spot on the bottom there is negative. It's one of the cases where the umbra doesn't match up exactly with where there's most intensity on the magnetogram due to the direction of the field lines, but if you look at just the polarities, which still match up with those of the uncolorized magnetogram, you'll see that the spot lies inside the area of negative polarity. So for now there's still that small delta, but the entire region has been breaking up and consolidating into more evenly divisible polarities, doesn't seem to be much complexity emerging lately. C'est dommage.

But I will not complain if it wants to become more “stout”. The link still shows a beta gamma delta classification, and I’d love to point out what I see that I think warrants that, but unfortunately I’m not on a device that will allow it. But yes, it’s very wee.

Currently, that’s looking “more delta” than what caught my attention earlier! The infamous 3-minute flare; but a flare nonetheless.
ChefyStephie
Yep saw that! Very impulsive, but a sign of life none the less. 😃 The region I was keen on yesterday seems to have gotten fussy again. I was staring it down as I got notification of the radio emission. Would love to hear any thoughts on it Edited May 23, 2023 by ChefyStephie

I do see some tiny deltas still, but it does get a bit blurred when the deltas are so small and/or the penumbrae are loosely connected. It's why the presence of a delta alone isn't necessarily going to be a sign of much activity, since it could e.g. be very small or there could be little shear, and so on. One large delta could easily signify more activity than four small ones. It reminds me of this little article and accompanying infographic I came across a while ago, where they introduce the concept of degree-of-delta to quantify how much of an active region is taking part in its delta configuration(s) in terms of flux; when the deltas are small and/or loosely connected like here, that quantity would be very small. They also briefly discuss how it's valuable to try and isolate only those delta parts of a region for analysis, as it's primarily those parts that tend to be associated with activity. That way you avoid some pitfalls with only looking at the degree-of-delta (a huge region where only 10% of the flux participates in the delta(s) would still represent a large potential for activity, whereas a tiny region where 100% of the flux is delta wouldn't necessarily have much activity).

The baby deltas seem *not* to be decaying, so the spot, in my humble opinion, is still interesting.
