LunarLights58
Four to five hours ago, just behind the northeastern limb, an incredibly fast CME was ejected and was seen in imagery from SDO and GOES, as well as in STEREO-A's 304 and coronagraph images. However, SOHO is not providing data at the moment. The CME is likely going at least 1,000 km/s 1

Sam Warfel
Wow, impressive! I hope we get LASCO soon! 1000 Km/s on launch is not thaaat extreme, but it looks very big as well. Too bad it’s not Earth-directed
Solarflaretracker200
Looks like it may have been X class. Idk 🤷♀️

LunarLights58
Um, is this from STEREO or SOHO? That's a full halo CME. Is it from the far side?

LunarLights58
It is.... the same one! And it's completely not Earth directed.
Solarflaretracker200
Looks like this CME was from the far side. According to spaceweather.com Edited February 16, 2022 by Solarflaretracker200 AUTOCORRECT

According to spaceweather.com We did know that already, because we didn’t see the flare that launched it, not even a tiny bit over the limb, it must be far side. Hopefully it makes it over the limb and produces some nice Earth-Directed Full Halo CMEs with a speed of ~1500km/h😁 1 hour ago, LunarLights58 said: Um, is this from STEREO or SOHO? That's a full halo CME. Is it from the far side? Looks absolutely Stunning! I never have seen such a beautiful full halo CME! And according to the Picture its SOHO; because in the right corner theres LASCO-c2, and STEREO doesnt have such a high resolution😂
Solarflaretracker200
According to this: https://www.spaceweatherlive.com/en/solar-activity/latest-cmes.html it says this CME was a Type IV but I think it was more then that
Jesterface23
Not Earth directed, but it managed to have our proton flux levels rise. There is a slight chance the CME could impact STEREO A even though the CME was slightly over the limb.
