It was perfectly clear (at least according to my mom lol)

Ooof, better luck next time! It’s only getting better from here on out! (Well, until after solar max that is, hopefully we’ll be good and satisfied by then!

I'm not sure if I'm interpreting this stuff correctly, so bear with me.
So was that G3 just some sort of hiccup or something? I'm kinda one of those people that think "if this caused a G3-level storm, imagine what'd happen with a stronger CME", so I'm trying to figure out what may have caused this to occur.

It can’t really be correlated like that, it’s too unpredictable. We could get what we thought was a “real CME”, and it turns out to be a dud, G1 or less.

We’re not sure why this one was so unexpectedly strong, but it definitely doesn’t mean everything from here on out will be stronger than predicted.

Also, I don’t get why it was officially a G3, it seemed much more like a G2 at most. It wasn’t as severe as one thinks from the number.

Since the real-time Kp index is an average of individual K indexes from multiple reporting stations, it would be useful to review the individual station K indexes to see which, if any in particular, were driving the Kp index average to Kp7.
