it looks like a filament popped off, at least SDO images show this

I don't think there was any filament there, at least not from what I can see; but if you look below it and towards the center on the 195 and 304 Å imagery it does seem to have occurred along with some larger structure, not sure if it's just very sympathetic or part of the same event, but definitely seems to be associated:

Looking at SDO 304 Å imagery over a few days just now it's easier to see the filament in question for sure.

The eruption doesn't look that powerful, but from what I've seen it's not always that easy to say with filament eruptions. Direction looks like there could potentially be something headed our way, but too early to tell. Looking forward to seeing LASCO imagery as always.

give it a minute, it looks like it didn't quite start to release fully until about 23:26, i still have hope....

i'd also like to point out that it came from the smiley winking sun cat spot :)
