Analysis of the Solar Activity June 7th 2014

Analysis of the past 24h

It has been a while since we saw some stronger activity on the Sun, this may now have ended with active region 2080. This region formed on june 4th and showed moderately fast growth in the days after and has since yesterday a beta-gamma-delta magnetic classification due to a compact delta spot in the trailing part of the region. Due to this delta spot there where multiple C-class flares and also an impulsive M1.4 solar flare. The region is stable and still has the potential to produce further events.

Just south of region 2080 is newly numbered region 2085 that's also worth mentioning, out grow fairly rapidly in two days and has a beta-gamma magnetic layout, if development continues this region might produce it's first minor flares.

What can we expect in the upcoming 24h?

Solar activity is expected to be low with a small chance for an M-class event from region 2080.

M-class flare probability: 25% chance

X-class flare probability: 1% chance

Analysis of the Solar Activity June 8th 2014

Analysis of the past 24h

Region 2080 showed some decay in the trailing part of the region in the last 24h, penumbral area shrunk and the delta spot is now less penumbral connected. The region is still evolving gaining some new spots but it poses less threat for M-class flares but can't be ruled out.

Region 2085 evolved more and is now getting fairly large, it still has a beta-gamma magnetic layout but if it continues to grow this region might come interesting as some areas of interest start to form.

What can we expect in the upcoming 24h?

Solar activity is expected to be low with a slight chance for an M-class event from region 2080 and 2085.

M-class flare probability: 15% chance

X-class flare probability: 1% chance
