Marcel de Bont
SpaceWeatherLive Report X4.97 CME update The low-energy protons as measured by ACE EPAM are steadily rising which indicates the X4.9 CME is getting closer to Earth. A glancing blow is expected to arrive at Earth later today. NOAA is forecasting a G1 geomagnetic storm but the European SIDC is forecasting at most active conditions (Kp4) which to us seems the more likely scenario. Nevertheless, follow the data and forecasts on www.spaceweatherlive.com for the latest info!
Marcel de Bont
SpaceWeatherLive ReportX4.97 CME impact! The X4.9 CME is now passing the ACE spacecraft. As expected, it is a glancing blow and it is not a strong impact. The solar wind speed rose with 73.45 km/sec to 424.1 km/sec. IMF Bt (strength): 13.9 nT. Bz: -8.9 nT (South). NOAA has a G1 forecast out but the European SIDC expects a maximum Kp of 4. We agree with the SIDC and do not see this going beyond Kp4 with the current values as measured by ACE but as always keep an eye on the data for the latest forecasts.http://www.spaceweatherlive.com/community/uploads/monthly_02_2014/post-94-0-00620400-1393518261.pnghttp://www.spaceweatherlive.com/community/uploads/monthly_02_2014/post-94-0-84295200-1393518260.pnghttp://www.spaceweatherlive.com/community/uploads/monthly_02_2014/post-94-0-41765100-1393518260.pnghttp://www.spaceweatherlive.com/community/uploads/monthly_02_2014/post-94-0-63225100-1393518260.png
