oemSpace
I don't understand what the horizontal component of the earth's magnetic field is about. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any suggestions The following are the most important effects accompanying a sudden ionospheric disturbance: magnetic crotchet, a sudden change in the horizontal component of the earth's magnetic field due to an increase in the conductivity of the lower ionosphere, the changes being in the nature of an augmentation of the normal quiet-day magnetic change ... Vancanneyt Sander
Like we already said in earlier topics, the IMF is a vectorial component consisting of three axises: a horizontal (Bx), vertical (By) and the direction (Bz). Just like the direction of the IMF, there are also sudden changes in the other axises. So it's all normal that all the components are important for the ionospheric disturbances. We only use the Bz (direction) and the field strength (Bt) the most.
