Certainly a very interesting group with potential. Stating that it can produce an X10 solar flare is a bit of a bold statement as I doubt that but it does have X-flare potential. Let's keep an eye on

X10+ flares are extremely rare, so unless the region were to look like a giant big mess (like e.g. 3664) I'd say it's almost always reasonable to doubt that it could produce such a flare. It looks pro

Seems like it's been oscillating back and forth in terms of color. Hard to say if it's due to different lines of sight and/or complexifying/simplifying, but it is a bit lighter in color currently; see

How big of an occlusion is there on LASCO c2? Doesn’t seem to be anything on it yet and it’s got 09:36 as the latest frame?

kinda hard to tell with the flare on the limb just happening around the same time

CME is visible on C2 now

I think so. Doesn't look all that impressive so far. Still think it's too early though.

Looks like it. I think there's more ejecta on the west, but hidden by the bright helmet streamers.

There was also a bright coronal loop ejected southward, probably still hidden behind the occulting disk right now.

oh, thats interesting. but shouldnt that show up ~2-3h after the flare which would be now? or is it slower than others said? Fast mentioned 1-2 day arrival, i dont know if its that fast.

More X classes please…..

I fully agree with you, but you have to be a bit more specific about what you want:
More X classes please earth directed😉

(I am tired looking at all those big gun clusters traveling quietly form east to west just
to explode finally with biggest X-amounts on the limbs and backside - and we had much
to many of them in the past...)

Thank you! :) Actually, it's really nice feeling to be back here, in such a great community. :)

Might go a little off topic here but... Good to hear that and welcome back. After all the drama lately its great to hear people still enjoy coming to our little living room. 🥰

I think it launched a faint halo CME but it is not much to write home about.

Looked at it with Helioviewer as well, would love to post the video of it here but anyone with epilepsy would hate me for that but yea there is a good faint halo. My guess is an Angular Width of around 240°.

It could also very well be that the faint halo is only the top but so my guess of 240° is only a guess.

1-2 days is moderate speed, it seems a bit generous for this CME. This looks over 48hrs for an arrival.

The coronal loop seems to have disappeared, unless this is a part of it right here.

Thank you @Marcel de Bont🙂

Just checked both LASCO and STEREO coronographs and actually I am suprised how unipressive the CME is. On the other hand - I have seen very nice geomagnetic storms even with faint ones. Seems like fainter and more unimpressive ones tend to be more interesting than big and bold ones. :D ...so I don't write off this event completely...

I think with the limb CME and bright helmet streamers the X1 cme could be underexposed.

That view is definitely a little harsh on the eyes. Thanks for taking one for the team haha.

Does the negative spot of the delta seem to be not as dark of a red currently?

That main negative polarity spot southeast of the shear line. It polarity seemed a little bit stronger last night if I remember correctly.

I was just coming here to comment on that. I think overall this region looks less impressive than it did 12 hours ago. As you pointed out the red spot is not as dark and all the intermingled positive and negative on the right side of the big positive spot has dissipated into more separated and less intense areas. Still looks impressive but less so than before.

yes its going back and forth, currently its becoming a bit darker again

same goes for the blue spot, it has become lighter since last night

I remember a similar situation not very long ago when we had a small amount of eruptive flares and it caused a G3. It was not predicted or modelled and a big surprise for everyone. The reason was probably a coronal hole close to the flaring region. We have the same here.

Man this thing is developing incredibly rapidly now, those huge blue positives to the right of the main feature were not there yesterday and they are huge, looks like some negatives are starting to form around them too
