M5 now. Its looks like its still not over for the region

It's pretty exciting, just keeps rising. Wonder how long it'll continue for. It's been going for nearly an hour

  • I think we should be very careful with trying to find patterns like this and then believing it when it's 99% a coincidence. It's in the nature of us humans to find patterns to get understanding on thi

i also see a cme but its likely not even a glancing blow right?

X flare from this region? ( @mozy is the source wizard, might correct me :D )

Oh wow, going straight up again. That's one of the weirdest flares I've ever seen, maybe due to the fact that the region is already somewhat obscured by the limb.

Oh you'll notice, the regions love the limb

What an odd flux development. Pretty cool though, although sadly at the limb.

do you think the cme i observed or one to come could graze us still?

Is there a chance it could have triggered a filament around the other side to snap to cause the sharp rise?

You've got to be joking... its been giving us a dry spell almost all passing, and just as it disappears again, its X-ing? What a sucker. Did we see the steady rise and then the sharp peak because it was already out of the direct line of sight (and sensors?)

What do you define as "the other side" ?

I'd say it's highly unlikely, probably won't see any of it here at Earth; but I guess we'll see in the coronagrams what the situation is.

An area where it's not visible on the images, still not well versed in my terminology

Thank you, i can already see something in 195 thats why im asking your opinion of it. Im so bad with glancing blows and limb stuff.

Oh come on, this flare on the limb is my third disappointment of the day hahaha

we should see if there is a cme in the following 10-20 mins

If we assume for a second that the location of the planets has some effect on the outbursts, then such an event becomes understandable. All the planets are now on the side or on the other side of the Sun in relation to the Earth. Excuse me, my adult participants, this is just my guess, I looked at how the planets are located now. I'm sorry again.👶

It looks like the whole limb blew up in the Stereo images. Are you guys sure there is no chance for at least a glancing? not even a teeny tiny little one? 🙁

The correlation of solar flares with the alignment of planets is an unproven theory. Use the appropriate topic for this discussion. Thanks.

Yeah, I see it, looks like quite a bit of movement indeed, but seems like it's all in the wrong direction sadly, as expected.

I think the eruption from this event is going to be relatively minor just looking at how eruptive the event was. I'm sure there will be a CME but I don't think it's going to be wide. This combined with the location of the eruption... any ejecta is likely not aimed at Earth.

Yes, thanks, I won't do it anymore. Sorry, I already realized that this refers to unscientific methods.
Please, forgive me generously.
