Reminder: this thread is for solar activity like flares and CMEs launching from the sunspot.
To discuss the CME's travel or impacts on Earth, please move to this thread in the geomagnetic activity forums.
Thanks!

its very nice to get a feedback from someone that can read lasco, because i cant

Heh, not sure if I really qualify, but on C3 there definitely seems to be ejecta from the eruption visible on the other side as well.

By some do you mean more of a glancing impact?

Based on how that terminology is typically used, I'd say it looks like a better hit than that, but the brunt of the ejecta seems to be headed off to the side. Might be less of a deflection after all the Solar wind that has been cleared from previous CMEs too.

And we've been so well behaved.  No one asserted that the conjunction of the Sun, Jupiter, and Venus was the reason for the high activity from AR3664.  Such restraint deserves a kudos!

This region is amazing. Here's the development from May 4th to today. Stabilized.

Well, do us a favor and stop posting about it here over and over again, especially not using that nonsensical terminology that we all know where originates. We've already addressed it countless times

Somebody please make a topic “Big Sunspots - Scary Things” so we don’t have to interrupt the thread with the newest “I’m scared” bs 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

AR3664 : 6 CME's due to arrival and GPF warning threshold has been broken.

Still think a G5 event greater than the Halloween solar storm( 2005) is about to ring our doorsteps.

Wow this guy was right. I can’t believe it 🤣

And we have another X-flare, neat.

im late to the party.

i dont see much dimming, i will check with solardemon once it has enough data.

does not look crazy eruptive to me so far from suvi.

like, a lil fling to the west is all i can see.

yeah, @Philalethes was right :) And to pat my own back, i was too, with the most going west. :D

Hey long time creeper of the forum but never posted before ! Just wondering how much longer before this specific region is no longer geo effective ? Seems to be getting close to that point now based on the last few flares heading away from Earth to the west.

youre correct. but sometimes wide cmes can still give us grazing hits. the last X flare was not really eruptive, just a little bit to the west (as far as I could observe)

See the image here for an idea; now it's at around 60° of longitude, so it's a lot less likely, but not impossible.

3664 is currently shining so bright again in SDO 131. I think we are close to the next flare.

Edit: Ok, maybe not that bright after all. I saw an older image.

So I've lost count now. How many earth directed cme's has this sunspot produced for us?

I think 7-8. We still need a couple more just to be sure though.

This region just keeps firing at us. I have lost count on how many CME's it has launched that has earth directed components. The CME from 02:36 UTC (11th May) looks pretty good as well.

I love this region ❤️

The cme even got modelled already! Arrival Late 13th, G2 possible :)

Can someone please offer me a reliable live feed of the flares?
