Isatsuki San
I was seeing that GOES is not showing the solar flares it must have been an hour ago, and I would like to know if anyone knows why it happens
Philalethes
There's just a period of roughly 1 hour from around 17:30 to 18:30 where GOES-16 data is missing; there were no flares during that time, the M-flares happened before that. As for the reason why, that's a good question. It's no longer eclipse season, and if you look at the SUVI imagery, which is currently using GOES-16 as the primary, you can see the image shaking around. I've seen it happen before, but I don't know the reason for it. Perhaps calibration of some sort? Maybe someone else knows. And now I see that there are also two hours missing from around 19:15 to 21:15, maybe that's what you were referring to. Edited April 30 by Philalethes more missing data
WA1ZJL
I noticed that earlier. Those images jumping around looks like a satellite stability issue to me. I've seen that with communications satellites when I was a broadcast engineer. Till they got it fixed the sats were completely unusable. Hopefully a few commands from the ground will take care of it!
