The “ Russian Woodpecker”

Recommended Posts

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duga_radar

Something of a misnomer, the Duga radar was located near the Ukrainian city of Pripyat  which was/is very close to the current Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.  If you hear a popular recording of it, the time station WWVH in Hawaii can also be heard.  It caused hams a lot of issues back in the day! These days other, less intrusive methods are used by all concerned with “Who is that at my door?” 73, Mike   Edit:   I thought as we had a real Russian aboard now, @tniickck might enjoy a bit of ham radio history.
