I wrote a post about it here (and another a bit further down). I even sent him an email to give him a chance to explain, but he literally didn't even know where the galactic center is located in the software he'd been using himself to make his model. I'm not saying there couldn't ultimately be some relationship between interplanetary and interstellar interactions and Solar activity, but his claims in particular have definitely proven to be faulty in my book. I found a paper which seems to be partly based on a post on the same blog, and claims to have the "beginning of a fairly coherent hypothesis". It contains "Evidence of Planetary Electromagnetic Connections Influencing the Solar Cycle" Mysterious High Energy Gamma Rays Might Help Explain What Drives Solar Cycles https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1901/1901.10574.pdf It's partly based on a "DEMONSTRATION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC MAGNETOSPHERIC FEEDBACK ALONG PARKER SPIRAL" http://www.vukcevic.co.uk/ParkerSpiral.htm Blogpost on the topic https://tallbloke.wordpress.com/2012/03/22/how-can-jupiter-and-saturn-affect-solar-cycles-brief-review/ What do you think? I'm personally highly skeptical about that type of mechanism, but it's certainly a hypothesis that one can investigate further. That being said, I don't think the moderators want us to keep using this thread, as the "Unproven theories" thread was created for the purpose of being a catch-all for these types of discussions. If you'd like a discussion about it I'd recommend you post it there, and also sum up the sources you're providing in your own words and/or with quotes, maybe give a brief overview over what is being argued too; it's not that easy to discuss without a proper context. Also, in this case specifically it seems like what is being argued is primarily electromagnetic interactions rather than anything having to do with the barycentric Solar motion and conservation of momentum, so in that sense it doesn't belong in this thread anyway. You might also be interested in searching around a bit for older threads on the topic you mention, as before the "Unproven theories" thread was created there were plenty of discussions about the effect of planetary alignments on Solar activity, many even years before I ever joined the forum myself. That way you might get an overview of what has been discussed previously and what people might already have addressed, and so on. I know e.g. the Scafetta paper referenced in the blog post there has been brought up before, including by myself.
