Solar flare database changes

Hello everyone, the other day I came across an interesting paper with a note in the conclusion detailing how an update of the solar flare database would be releasing some time this year. I was curious as to how this site would adapt to the changes, and if solar flare data from solar cycles 21 and 22 would be added. The paper: https://doi.org/10.1007/s41116-022-00033-8

Welcome Sn00tplex!

Good question thanks for bringing it to our attention. The peak values in the archive are derived from NOAA's own reports and not the peaks of the raw XRS data. I assume the raw XRS data will be calibrated and released. Unless there will be a new data set like a table with new flare peaks, dates, times, etc. etc. this might be hard. Pinging @Vancanneyt Sander he's the real wizard here who can give you an answer.

Adding raw flare data for SC21 and 22 might actually be possible but its all up to Sander.

If the database is to be released we could do an update, if it isn’t released than it’s a problem. Much will depend if they release it to the public. Till today there isn’t a public database, we’ve build our own database using SWPC reports and many manual corrections.

So is this not the database? : https://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/stp/space-weather/solar-data/solar-features/solar-flares/x-rays/goes/xrs/
