Newbie
This quickly developing sunspot has quadrupled in size overnight. It is exhibiting mixed polarity and is beta - gamma at this point with a chance for M-class flares. N. Philalethes
This is the only spot I've been paying attention to for the past couple of days, and it seems to have complexified considerably overnight; a delta seems to have formed (red square), and there are tendencies to another one too (blue square):

I thought the blue squared area was likely earlier, I don't believe it's quite there yet! I put the original pic in as a reference so any changes could be noted. Thanks N. Newbie
Solen has this listed as Beta Gamma Delta. It did produce a C5.2 flare. It just does not appear overly active at the moment. N. Edited September 12, 2022 by Newbie

Newbie
M7.9 Flare. AR 13098 finally delivered. Pity it is sitting on the limb. N. Edited September 16, 2022 by Newbie
Philalethes
Typical, always waiting until the spot is on the limb before firing the largest blasts.
Chris, HB9DFG
...hmm, where else? But...psssst...don't tell Spaceweather.com about it...otherwise they ask their forecasters and we have once more to stay tuned for a glancing blow! 😁

There's a big difference between the flare and any associated CME. The flare will typically be visible as long as it's anywhere on the visible disc facing Earth, even if it's right on the limb as in this case. And needless to say, X-rays, like all other electromagnetic radiation, does indeed travel at the speed of light, and thus reaches Earth in ~8 minutes.

And to add, there was no ejecta with it being very impulsive, although with it now being on the western limb, would think a radiation storm might be possible in the next day or so? Or was the flare too short-lived?

Newbie
There she blows again M1.9 and counting. Possibly stronger because of the location. Another one escapes behind the limb! N. Edited September 17, 2022 by Newbie
