Sam Warfel
This AR is now Beta-Gamma! A flare and CME while it’s facing earth would sure be ideal 🤞 3

Region 3068 (S15W24, Esi/beta-gamma) went through periods of dissipation and growth, while the mixed magnetic field shear weakened slightly. Despite these changes, the region was the source of a C6.9 flare at 03/1708 UTC. An associated weak Type II radio sweep, with an estimated velocity of 163 km/s, was reported by the USAF radio observatory network. GOES SUVI imagery indicated some signatures of a potential, weak CME, but we await updated coronagraph imagery to evaluate further. Probably not the strength of eruption and subsequent CME hoped for. 163 km/s very slow. N.

Yeah, sadly it seems like that impulsive C6 is as good as we will get… 1
WildWill
It appears to me that this region has lost much of the "gamma" characteristics we saw yesterday. while it does still appear beta-gamma, it also seems to be weakening and losing more of those characteristics throughout the day today. Of course, what do I know? L&A

Andre Beverage
What happened to the sunspot data on 08/04/2022 and 08/05/2022? Sunspots 3071 and 3068 are visible then there is no data at least from SOHO. Then on 8/06/2022, 2 very large sunspots 3072 and 3073 appear which seems incredibly fast? Can you or anyone direct me to visible images for those 2 dates?
Vancanneyt Sander
SDO data was available and is in our archive. 3072 and 3073 are not very large

Andre Beverage
No Data from the ground based USET observatory in Brussels https://www.sidc.be/uset/ Also no drawing data from 6th to the 7th which would be the same as the 4-5th for the SOHO data. Hello AB no one had any data because SOHO was out of action due to tech problems, that's been documented. The only way you could access this info would be from direct observation of the Sun itself. There are probably astro-photographers that have posted images on various websites for those days. There were issues a little while back when Stanford was shut down due to wildfires. There was nothing from SDO. Stuff happens from time to time. N. Somehow this reply ended up in the quote. Oops sorry!
