It caused a solar eclipse for SDO today! An unusual but very cool event! You can even see the bumpy edge of the mountains on the moon. Do eclipses impact our ability to see for a moment? Yes, if there was a flare in the portion of the sun that was eclipsed while it was eclipsed it could be missed.
