Patrick P.A. Geryl
This is the drawing of the sunspot that induced the Carrington event. Is there a colored layout so that we can see the deltas?
MinYoongi
How? There were no satellites able to produce magnetograms back then.

Bedreamon
A colorization of that would be a dream for researchers imo, though I don't know how possible that'd be.
Sunshine
Given that this is a drawing and not an actual photo, it is already very subjective. It's missing subtle colour differences which today's algorithms could use to calculate different colours. So, without a real photo, I believe, any colourisation would be pure guesswork, I'm afraid. Sorry to bust your idea.
Blayne Armstrong
Been working on it for way too long tried really hard but didn't come out as well as I wanted it.
jeny96
But where is this drawing from?
Jesterface23
I wonder if there are any other sketches made of the sunspot region to see its progression or if it was the only one. 2 hours ago, Blayne Armstrong said: Been working on it for way too long tried really hard but didn't come out as well as I wanted it. The odds are the polarities of the larger sunspots might be inverted based on the solar cycle number, but it looks like a decent start. Charles Muller
Heinrich Schwabe made those on Aug. 27 left,Sep. 01 mid, right. Maybe this could help.
