A glancing blow at best, it’s not earth-directed much at all. Edit: I watched the SOHO footage, and there is a a very faint full halo. You must due your homework before making claims about it possibly being earth-directed. Such large eruptions always leave a clear signature on the disk if it comes from an earth-facing position.
