Scruffy-Looking
Just curious where the equipment used to photograph the sun for the website is located? I lined up my telescope and rotated the camera so the viewfinder was pointing straight up - When compared to the one on the website, Photoshop shows I need to rotate my camera approx 140 degrees. For reference, I am located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. Thank you.
Marcel de Bont
Depends on the instrument you are looking at but SDO is located in space and solar north is up on those images. You are however standing on Earth, and Earth is a sphere. Unless you are standing on the north-pole, you will always have to rotate your images for solar north to be in the top of your photograph.
