This is the strongest sunspot from this cycle. Current strength (November 18) about 2100 compared with plus minus 3100 for the sunspot that exploded on July 23 2012 on the farside (larger than Carrington event of 1859?). https://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2014/23jul_superstorm The problem is that the complex sunspot rapidly increases but also decreases in strength.
