The orange glows, there’s three spots of them, near but above the horizon over the lake.

those are red spots on the farside of the aurora the closest town to us over the lake is well over 50 miles away

the nearest town over the lake is 75 miles away

I see. I was doing some night sky photography on Lake Superior at the Porcupine Mountains looking NorthWest, and I could see bright air glow from towns 30+ miles away on the Apostle Islands peninsula, and that was even with no clouds, under different conditions that range could be extended.

Additionally, from the tallest mountain in the Porkies I could see the other side of the lake around Grand Maris all the way across, during the day. At night, looking at light from cities on clouds, you could see much further.

Basically, I'm just saying it may be possible to see lights from the other side of the lake.
But if you’ve photographed that spot under similar conditions when there were no Northern Lights and the orange glow was absent then too, that would indicate it is of Auroral origin.

Are you sure you weren’t seeing the zodiacal light

Without a doubt. I'll post the photos.
My case was much more probable than yours anyway, because I was looking not straight across the lake, but along it, to the Apostle Islands.
