I was just staring at the magnetometer in confusion because it seems to be bouncing up and down almost hourly. I am pretty sure I've never seen this in almost a year of checking this site. Does anyone see what I mean? Can they explain it?

I hope this isn't a newbie question. I doubt that it is a silly one, just because I haven't seen this behaviour, personally, ever before.

If you look at how regularly Bz changes direction, you can immediately assume that it could be because of this.

I haven't actually seen that many evenly distributed variations in the past. this one appeared to be quite different, in that the up and down jumps were not erratic, like they usually are.

Buuut, if the above graph is from today, then I must have just simply caught that brief section of the readings where the "jumps" were very evenly distributed (eg 8:30-10:30).
