There's a new sunspot group on the far side, and one M3 gave out yesterday.

We can only hope Region 4055 is surviving its farside passage which solarham Farside viewer suggests it is and should be Visible On the east limb by next Friday Hopefully not Decayed.

The detail is absolutely breathtaking.

Hopefully it’s EKC or better or over 700 mh with a nice group of deltas or perhaps a rude inversion line traversing it. Getting impatient here for those X-10 plus due us.

@Marcel de Bont AR4068. It should be further south, this spot:

So it is. Sure isn’t South 06. 😊. Good catch

However South 06 just let loose a near M flare with some dimming east 76 or so. Checking both Solar Demon and Solar Soft and they both agree on physical source of flare.

Looks like this cycle is a bit of an outlier, seeing yet another region emerging far south.

Yeah, it is unusual to see it this late in any cycle at a higher latitude. I wonder if Scott M or @3gMike have any observations. Several unexpected events have occurred regarding the NH too. Mainly regarding a resurgence in activity at a higher level. But all other signs say we are definitely on the downward slope at this point, particularly the massive CH If we see the next ten regions at -30 I might freak out. 🤣🤣🤣

Regions

Any thoughts on the newly developing region just south of AR4067? Seems like another candidate for some good complexity.

Yes! Agree. Didn’t even see that. It is now officially 4069 and looks tight with growth between polarities even. Definitely magnetically hot presently also.

That's fascinating to see on the 4067 slides, it's grown a lot in the last 2 days.

The far side has a 3664 🥲 incoming 3000km/h CME

Is this an exaggeration or was there an actual fast CME on the farside?

Its Seems 4055 is surviving Its Farside Passage And has Possibility Grown a bit It would be nice if we still had old STEREO-B around and it was Positioned on the Farside To get a Good look whether Or not 4055 is still Producing Numerous flares all in all Region 4055 Should be Rotateing into view on the east limb I'm going With 7-11 PM Apr 26th.

AR3664 was the region responsible for the 'May storm' (12X+61M flares), guessing they are referring to a fair side eruption that it probably produced but it's hard to find it in DONKI.

Edit: Looking at 3664's growth is amazing, never seen anything like it.

There was no cme, i just meant that our luck would have it that a fast far side CME would occur sooner or later }

Sorry for the confusion 😅

I've not done an exhaustive search, but just looking at the Butterfly diagram suggests that it is probably not that unusual. Cycles 23 and 24 both show higher latitude events at about the 5 year point, also in the Southern hemisphere.

I was thinking that CH 39 may have evicted those regions behind. Yeah as is typical, it is the average that counts. Hoping to see some larger equatorial complex regions over the summer and perhaps another Kp8 or two for more photo opportunities on the decline here. Tnx for weighing in.

With the amount of sunspots we have on the Disk right now it's been a while Since that's happened so Hopefully we dont enter Another quiet period anytime soon and with this uptick It would be nice to start seeing those Large BGD Regions with this uptick Early March Was an absolute Disappointment Except for that X1.14 Flare With a Unit of an Eruption 4012 also had potential then started Rapidly Decaying Once center Disk But going into May soon I think Another Quiet Period will Hopefully Be out of the question For a couple months🤞.

It really amazed all of us. The higher X classes weren’t even the most productive if my memory serves me. I think four CMEs were on their way and piled up perfectly on arrival. There is an interesting wiki on it btw. I may as well post a link on an edit here if it isn’t already onsite.

No, that’s too early. It is about halfway to the east limb, so my guess is late 29th
