this spot has been showing up fairly large these last couple of runs labeled P100 hopefully when it turns closer to view it will be something promising.image.png

There's a new sunspot group on the far side, and one M3 gave out yesterday.

Been slowly making a simple NE limb video and finally decided to finish it last night as JSOC will be down for 6 hours for maintenance to fix data gaps.

There was a pretty good sized eruption on the far side a few hours ago. Probably from that P100 region we keep seeing on the far-side imagery.

When exactly did that happen? I can't see timestamps on your video.

Solar Orbiter is still 20 deg eastwards of the Earth-Sun line, and STIX should probably have seen something...

Ok I found the answer to my question in the title page of your video (sorry, my bad...)

Well, the STIX light curve only shows an estimated C2 flare that peaked at 19:08. There was another, more impulsive C3 flare with peak at 19:30 that is clearly visible in GOES, coming from AR 3996.

Hmmm might be something of interest depending if this has developed fast

just checked myself and seems to of emerged within the past 8 hours or so

Really strange to have this Type II and not be able to correlate it to anything I can see, here or backside. Anyone have an idea? Right around 23:38. Utc

Well if it’s really a CME we should see the results in a few days…. I haven’t looked at D-RAP for an RF signature yet though.

Zip Nada on D-RAP. I’m gonna disregard it entirely for now.

*Had a quick look and to me it would either be the large filament on the west doing something as some sort of disturbance is visible, I also observed a small filament eruption which seems to much up with timing but unsure

may of also of been a filament right in the south on the farside* NOT ACCURATE LOOKED AT 22:38UTC and not 23:38UTC

Still, the 48 hr run of D-Rap showed nothing. Anyway, typically a type II shows something, but still seems a bit annoying. I will poke around more. Tnx. Probably need stronger spectacles. 🤣🤣🤣

A filament launch independent of high flux just might cause a Type II. Didn’t occur to me. Tnx.

The things I observed where around 22:38UTC as I misread your message so take what I said with a grain is salt in relation to this

No problem. The type II sweep without a corollary is new to me. It couldn’t have been a filament I just realized unless the method of verification is very narrow band, and this seems unlikely. 😊

Hmmm, może to być coś interesującego, w zależności od tego, czy rozwinęło się to szybko

It looks like you found AR 4000! d

Looks like it has been developing further with a possible delta already in place

The JHelioviewer time stamp bugs out almost every time I try to use it so I try to include the particulars on the title screen. I'm gonna guess it was indeed a filament with a possible association with a region in the northern hemisphere.

Spot (most likely will be named ar4000) seems to of shown some nice development in the last we while

Edited by SearMr Cool

It looks beautiful, but nothing good can be expected from the spots lately, but the coronal holes are showing well

It appears that an earlier potential emergence dissipated also. It probably was South. I see coronal cat fur on the limb, but no big loops yet.

more or less would make sense as we have some possible regions approaching

Yes. I was just thinking that the next surge in activity may coincide with our equinoctial chances of higher activity too. The sun has had a good rest. 😊
