Stereo A COR2 doesn't show anything but im not sure where it is right now.

Edit:
https://stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov/where.shtml
Stereo A is to the right of earth ( west? ) so it should have picked up Something if there was an ejection.
https://stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov/browse/2024/07/17/ahead/cor2/2048/thumbnail.shtml
Not a whole lot of change int eh images, although they are very grainy compared to LASCO.

i can wait for CCOR i hope its better than the patchy data we get from LASCO

There does seem to be some ejectionspacer.png

its usually a bit west from earth but im unsure rn. @Misaka maybe an idea?

edit: if someone can explain to me why it looks contained, please explain. i want to learn to discern stuff.

Note, the thing about it being contained is by opinion, but the main reason that some people think that it is contained is because that the magnetic intensity is high, but it doesn't seem like it to me...

Do you know the difference between a proton storm and a CME?  EDIT: Sorry justanerd I didn't see your post. I'm on a horrible internet connection at the moment. Well said. I hope this user just

So tired of this misinformant - do you know what a proton storm even is?? Here we refer to it as an SPE - solar proton event. NASA calls it a Solar Radiation Storm and they have special charts and war

  • All his posts are misleading, feeling like he is just trolling! I don't get why though, we're just here to learn a lot of cool stuff about space weather, there's no need to spread misinformation! And

Where exactly do you see the CME related ejection. if i compare pictures i dont see a change. Stereo A is ratty quality wise ofc. But if i compare a picture from before the flare and after in stereo, i dont see much yet. maybe im missing something.

i don't know, doesn't seem like there is any change in the images when the "eruption" occured

i dont know how to read COR or if it is actually usefull.

I'm starting to doubt myself now...

Maybe I'm wrong

Let's wait for LASCO

From that video i didn't see any ejection, that's why it looked contained to me

Oh, ok, now I understand thanks for explaining

But there was dimming so there should be a cme. @Jesterface23 please work your magic. :D

True! Hopeful now

You could ask SWPC - send email?

I tried putting playback speed at x0.25, there should be a CME. Dimming was quite significant

Hello, could you please tell me where can I find info about the dimming? Thank you very much :)

well what do you call "pretty significant" ?

Honestly, it's a little frustrating when you notice "yeah, there must be an Earth-directed CME!", but doubts appear soon. Especially when something is quite obvious for a CME launch. The lack of CME in STEREO is something you wouldn't expect (unless it's a really sharp cone CME and it's still obscured?) when you have dimming on AIA images, radio emission II and IV reported, including a quite longer duration flare that doesn't look impulsive enough at start to completely exclude a CME. Also, why there's no dimming reported on SolarDemon? I'm actually new to this site, but I thought if it's automatically updated, there should be something already. Of course if the eclipse is the reason why it wasn't included yet.

I mean, you can't trust any "Earth-directed CME" if at least 3 hours from the flare haven't passed...

Basically, lots of dimming at the end

Thanks for clarifying

I just wait for @Jesterface23 Its funny  frequently he will beat the predictive models   Not unlike a Weatherman Jeff Renner in Seattle long ago who was a meteorologist actually.   When he was replaced by another we hammered King 5 with protest letters.  He was soon reinstated.  🤣🤣

I do see the dimming on solardemon. do you want the link?

at least part of it that is not lost due to the eclipse.

I think it just appeared shortly after the post, because after refreshing I can see ID 10716 now

thats good.

yeah im confused about the missing cme in stereo imagery too, but i will just have to wait until someone more experienced than me can explain it.

There is lasco imagery now. I just don’t know how to interpret it. Tagging the smart heads 🙂 @Philalethes @mozy @Misaka jester was already tagged earlier @hamateur 1953 :)

It seems like there's almost a five hour gap
