Do you know the difference between a proton storm and a CME?  EDIT: Sorry justanerd I didn't see your post. I'm on a horrible internet connection at the moment. Well said. I hope this user just

So tired of this misinformant - do you know what a proton storm even is?? Here we refer to it as an SPE - solar proton event. NASA calls it a Solar Radiation Storm and they have special charts and war

  • All his posts are misleading, feeling like he is just trolling! I don't get why though, we're just here to learn a lot of cool stuff about space weather, there's no need to spread misinformation! And

This region decided to join in on the fun. The filament system throughout this region is interesting.

It seems to be lifting, if I saw correctly on AIA 195

oh thats interesting. i did not notice it until it started flaring. so the M class enhancement is due to the filament(s) ?

i also thought so but i dont see too much in 195.. any guess on eruptivity?

Not the filaments themselves, but they can possibly lift off during a decent flare. I circled them before the flare and highlighted the ones we can still see during the flare.

Very cool and probably part of the conductive process we are seeing going on across the Active Region too.

It appears we have multiple regions involved now.  Run the 48 hour 131 angstrom movie and see if y’all agree with me on this.  Mike

And first posting of F10.7 was 239 breaking  January 2023 record.  20:00 utc  hopefully this high or higher.

F 10.7

It seems to have had its magnetic intensity downgraded, from a β- γ to a β. The possibility of intensifying back is, excitingly, high. (It seems to be warming back up again) Hope to see more flares from AR 13743!

Hopefully it can produce something before getting TOO close to the west limb :)

Is the current flare coming from here? It appears to have peaked at M4.9

The M5.05 flare seems to have come from this region, good spot, and seems to have ejected something as well! Hopeful for an Earth-directed CME as well

yeah SUVI131 shows what looks to be a CME coming from it too, most recent SUVI 131 shows something coming out from this reigon

looking at 304 Ang it almost looks like the direction is pretty decent too.

Can get a good glimpse of it on 304a as well

Also tried AIA 094 335 193 and AIA 304 211 171spacer.pngspacer.png

It looks eruptive but this whole region looks magnetically caged. Seems like most of it is/will be going back onto the surface.

Ok, on second examination of the images the eruption does seem somewhat contained.

I highly doubt this region would be magnetically caged. All of the spots are relatively small and lacking a whole lot of magnetic concentration.

True! I have to say it's going to overdo it or disappoint us a lot 😉 hope it ejects something!

Looks like there's a rise again. Even if it's a tiny one, at least I got my wish of another peak heh

Hmmm well, i hope is gonna eject something, looks like is being on M level for longer than usual.

Yes, the gradient is very shallow for some reason
