Another good question on spots that deserves a better answer than I am capable of unfortunately.  I never thought that a ham like myself would get tired of these pesky surface blemishes.  Other than to answer that losing spots doesn’t sound good, the party typically isn’t over yet. Looking at the HMI pics of AR evolution is typically a better idea.   When a region begins to decay in magnetic strength you will see the signs, even to the point of seeing bright surface  beneath in an advanced point of decay. Edit:

I use the “slider” frequently when looking at an active region in addition to looking at general growth.  Put finger on division and play around with this cool feature.

I`m not a specialist, but for me the region looks absolutely boring ang non-promising. In some way it reminds of AR3712 - the size is big, but magnetically it is quite organized

The term "dimming" refers to the part of the corona which gets blown away by a CME, which will appear dimmer, much like a coronal hole, due to the subsequent lack of light-emitting plasma there. It's

Its a beta gamma and although I am pretty sure I see a tiny delta, it isn’t doing anything much.  Plus there seems to be some decline in the leading positive region.  So, despite my prior optimism, I agree.  It deserves to be blown to smithereens.

Which totally sux cuz it is in the ideal position to really whack us with a cme.

Well I threatened it directly instead of dissing it.   It will probably develop a huge delta on the west limb now…. 😈

i still think there are some deltas, altough small?

I agree, I think these three spots could possibly be deltas. Also not marked is the small positive region within that large negative region on the right which looks pretty interesting.spacer.png

It didn’t have my permission to start doing deltas again!  It had better deliver soon!  🤣🤣

You may be a sunspot whisperer… the timing on this M flare is eerie

I was just gonna look at 131a !!!!  Scary

That is downright scary.  Happened last year in conv with min too.  Haha

Seems like it might be a tiny bit more eruptive than previously to

You’re not the only one thinking that.  Haha.

Yes, it is from this region. Finally the sun is doing something again

i had to look at SDO to confirm because suvi is so slow!

No sign of it being explosive so far.

Not bad size , but it feels like we haven’t had an x class in so long….

Actually, it is eruptive. Visible on AIA 195,  the ejecta seems to be oriented north

Yeah I agree it does also look to be heading west a bit… I don’t know if that’s a shockwave I see south of the eruption where there seems to be a little tiky bit of movement?

Yes i see something southward too, but the main event looks kinda north/westerly? Can someone maybe confirm? @mozy @Misaka @Jesterface23 or mazbe @Philalethes :) the cme experts..
