I’m also seeing this. A lot of it looks to go south obviously but there’s also movement in the part that’s more earth facing. I don’t know if it’s collapsing back onto the sun or also ejecting. Maybe @Philalethes or @Jesterface23 know more since they’re more trained with their eyes 😁

Yeah, I know when the filament near the west limb ejected a few days ago, there was a noticeable spark and ejection but I'm not sure how long that takes. It may be a long duration event but it will be a great learning experience to see how this develops !

Oh my God, would you please be so kind and stop saying such nonsense all the time? A filament is definitely not to blame for Goes' data problems and that alone doesn't fit in terms of time. You alone

did you guys see that prominence near the filament that just launched

which part would that be of the filament thats earth faceing

It seems like it is being pushed more southward than north at the moment. All we can do is wait for coronagraph imagery to see where it is going and if it picks up some speed.

i think some of it is picking up and looks like its moveing towards earth maybe

I agree :)  Nice to know you already got your eyes on it! To me it looks mostly southward, i drew the direction i THINK its going here : 9ed61dbe1d83acbf5be1bacfcecdb4fc.png

in that case, i dont know if we could see something at earth.

Do you think so? I see no big change since my last comment, in what angstrom are you seeing the picking up?

I keep going back to the one animation (on SDO), but it hasn't updated for like two hours? I keep getting the same one.

The last frame I see is at 14:28UTC.

It's 17:15 UTC now.

Same here, it is painfully slow right now. SUVI says it's last frame is around 16:48 but it isn't much help. It almost looks like it reabsorbs on SUVI 195

I'm still horribly bad at reading the images / animations, but yes, to me it looked like the south easternmost part (is that a word? :D ) springs right back towards sun?

awesome hope it gives us a good cme And maybe a awesome aurora show

it looks like most of it is falling back to the sun

Use Suvi. You can access it here : https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/goes-solar-ultraviolet-imager-suvi

I agree, it looks like that to me to

That's what I am seeing in SUVI 195 also. We may have to wait and see if it gets another push later today.

Oh, wow, thanks!

That's some impressive looking movement there! And yes it gets pulled back in on the eastern part. Can't tell about the center that's against the sun.

Eastern part got completely sucked back in, but to my eye central part managed to escape. Coronagraph will tell if there is any Earth-directed component

i dont think we can expect any significant geomagnetic activity caused by this filament, but maybe itll merge with a possible cme fro 3889 and the coronal holes enhanced solar wind

304 looks amazing and it looks like some escaped....somewhere... prolly south as said above.

Yeah that southern prominence looks incredible in SUVI 304.

It does seem to be connected to the part shaped like a 3 also but it is really difficult to tell right now. We should see some sort of CME in lasco from the prominence that lets go to the south though. Very impressive whether Earth directed or not. I have only been at this since May but it is the largest one I have ever seen!

It appears that most of what actually left the sun is directed south.

I think lasco updated

You shouldve seen the  february 2021 or 2022 one! Biggest that was ever captured. Sadly im still working, otherwise i wouldve showed you.

Thanks for the heads up, I will try to search the archive !

We have an earth-directed coronal hole, is it possible that its HSS helps our filament a bit?
