  1. I've recently come across those so called Electromagnetic Ion Cyclotron waves (EMIC) and noticed that a lot of research papers regarding this topic also mention storm time conditions and the relation to geomagnetic storms. This one in particular: https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1029/2009JA014516 In which they write: Which leads me to wonder what implications there are for storm time predictions and analysis in regards to those EMIC Waves. In another paper from 2017 (https://ntrs.nasa.gov/api/citations/20170009019/downloads/20170009019.pdf) they also give out this neat graphic about the excitation regions on the noon-midnight meridian plane.
