Another beautiful picture! Thank you. I’m curious, when you are taking images in H-alpha, do you really get any benefit from the coronagraph? Zooming in on the NE limb, I can see the features from the last image, with what seems to me to be as good contrast and definition. 
 

I just got the DayStar quark H-alpha filter a couple of months ago. I’m starting to get the hang of it. It has more of a learning curve than I expected. When I’ve it tuned and focused it well. I’ve got a camera I’d like to get going on it, but I find it hard to work in it, cause I’m staring through my eyepiece all the time… so incredible. Mine is a OSC -> Zwo ASI183MC. I probably should have gone b&w, but this fell into my lap. And less post processing I hope.

Check out the NE limb, it’s the same features as those in the previous picture we were looking at…

Looking through the eyepiece at it is an order of magnitude better, in full red color! With the H-alpha filter, the whole spectrum is blocked except for a very tiny band around 6562.8A (656.28nm). Band pass is in the sub-Angstrom range. It’s definitely red. It’s because of this lack of spectrum that b&w produces superior quality images, when can be enhanced and colorized in post processing. 

I love looking at the chromosphere because that’s where all the action is. That feature on the upper NE limb is a “solar tornado” it’s not rotating or anything like that, it just looks like a tornado. It’s sucking plasma out into space.
