In the northernmost part of Finland, Lapland, at least dim northern lights are seen almost every night. Northern lights are rarer in southern Finland, but every year at least some kind of northern lights are seen in this area for a few dozen nights. On the very southern coast, where the Finnish capital Helsinki is located, northern lights are even rarer. Due to Finland's northern location, the northern lights cannot be seen during the summer season.
