I'm not sure what parameters they is best there exactly, but they seem to be looking for large fluctuations in all X, Y, and Z components.

If it’s like the other magnetometers you should look to the X.

From what I've last known the SWPC uses D(or E converted to nT) and H-components for the indices, and possibly removing the quiet day curve.
