It's been nine years. A good nine years.

I suppose it's time that a new generation of completely ignorant, scared people subscribe to this platform for the extra benefit of belonging; I clearly do not.

Marcel, this is your world, and we're wallowing in it. I've apparently become a troll according to him, and by the leaps of logic he must have performed, I don't feel confident in the leadership of this platform, any longer.

This is social hell for a subset of people. Feel free to connect directly with messages, but obviously, this isn't the norm. The norm is to react to things that are complex in a way that makes the complexity seem intangible and incomprehensible; we're dealing with Facebook parents on this platform, and not scientifically-involved individuals.

Politicization has occurred by virtue of Marcel and Vancanneyt's ignorance of the internet. I don't accept their label, and hope they reflect on what they've turned their platform into.

For what it's worth, I've provided ample feedback over these nine years. How much have they absorbed? Probably none; they've reinforced the website with one moderator from Wisconsin who's a good dude but very, very ignorant to how the world operates. I haven't seen him in months, as a casual user of the forum, so I suppose they're trying to deal with thousands of users on their own. Meanwhile, they perform friendly fire maneuvers better than they actually perform punitive actions. This is apparent in their handling of threads that go against some pre-supposed narrative.

Moreover, the attitude they've decided to adopt is anti-intellectual in nature, via the promotion of users that themselves do not regard intellectualism or science above their own arrogance. This has created an atmosphere of high-and-mighty moralists and those who parrot the most recent punitive action's sentiments. This is not a platform that has been able to survive the evolution of social discourse on the internet, and resembles a shittier version of a Facebook group, a la being millenials with an ego.

So, I've just directly and personally criticized the admins of this website after nine years of holding back any sort of negative feedback. The moment they forget who the hell I am is when those restraints fail. I'm just a regular user of the website, like everyone else. This isn't good for those who came to be educated or relieved. This is a golf club, in terms of its social dynamics.

I will not be back. I know it; this post and my sentiments will be taken so far up the rear end, that I'll become the most banned person of all time, across all forums. I know this will strike too many nerves, and I feel no remorse for any hurt feelings - two is not sufficient for thousands. This has degraded Marcel's mind and therefore the quality of his administrative actions.

It'd happen to the best of us, but I guess I have to take damage here due to being overwhelmed by the world. Boo motherfucking hoo.

Sure, but if you expect a long-time user of the platform to go quietly because you're on a fuckin ego trip, you have this all coming.

By the way, these two are illegally storing data that had been requested for deletion.

They then sell the data to the highest bidder, or adsense does it for them. This is the kind of sensationalist, x-mongering shit which once united the community; now it's the lynch pin keeping the site running, or something like that. Infinite excuses abound; either way, they don't respect the local law of its users nor really any authority. The authority is the discretion of somebody that like pretty lights.

I've noticed this too after seeing recent posts Marcel made to start locking certain topics.

I came here a few months back to learn, especially in regards to a lot of the health effects I've noticed with myself and plenty of others that had me stumped. They'd  happen in so many people simultaneously around these solar events. So i ended up experimenting with multiple strains of mycellium and bacteria during the solar events and found a correlation with the way theyd grow or mutations that would happen surrounding the events (especially between aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms). Even found things to protect/prevent the abnormal growths. Some of which are dietary or supplements i (and others)now take thatve helped IMMENSELY with a lot of issues we've been having. All thanks to the uncensored ideas people were allowed to share which sparked new ideas to learn and experiment with. After all, isnt that what science is about?

It's unfortunate that NCBI, NIH and other agencies that acknowledge the health effects the solar activity causes isn't even enough to not be a censored topic.

Ok but instead what if you got sick or died from your experiment or someone else tries to copy you and they get sick or die, whos liable?

this forum is not a place for scientific discourse. this is only for the discussion of solar and geomagnetic activity. not unfounded scientific "findings"

if you want to pursue this research further i am sure there is a community out there that you can join, however this is not it.

You advocate for scientific dialog, yet you apparently can't formulate your criticism in an objective manner and instead choose to insult people here in a long rant. If people disagree with your arguments you slander them instead? You opening presumably satirical threads about scientific nonsense didn't help either.

If you're that confident in your results, you should rather publish them instead of discussing them here (as I won't discuss Lasagna recipes here either). I don't see any reason why such a thing wouldn't be accepted from scientific papers - unless your studies are methodologically flawed.

If you note health effects in you, you should ALWAYS consider a doctor, not a space forum.

The main problem in the health discussion here was that they became one-sided really quickly. People just dumped paper after paper (not even ones related to their exact conditions) and ignored any criticism completely - or felt personally hurt by it, since they are heavily biased due to their own health being the topic.

It was just a monolog, which has nothing to do with actual science.

If you disagree with those rules then you are welcome to find another site that is more accommodating to your preferences. By continuing to beat your drum about being censored despite the expectations of the site owners being made clear, then yes you are trolling because by now you're aware that nothing you do will change the situation.

I've been looking for aurorae since more than ten years and eventually got my first sighting in Februrary 2023 after a long period of absolutely nothing 😃
The Sun will still be very active for a while and patience will pay out at one time.

I would take issue with the degradation of discourse.  If anything it has improved somewhat.  Imho. It is and should be an international community of friendly people who are like-minded and are happy to freely exchange ideas publicly and off topic stuff can be handled via private messages. I completely understand Marcels declaration of imagining we are in his living room.  Made sense to me.  Hagrid dunno.  By two cents. But to come back to the initial topic, I really don't think there's anything to be gained from this discussion anymore. The same exact discussion is currently going on in another thread, so opening this entirely new one here simply seems weird to me. I'll also never understand why people need to make such a fuss about leaving an internet forum.

I also don't see anything really left for discussion in that regards. I find it clear enough that it's okay to ask questions about solar science, even somewhat outlandish ones. The problem stems from the one-sided discussions afterwards. And that's just not what this forum's supposed to be. If anybody wants to dump information about a topic they're passionate about, they can always just open a blog.

This is just an internet forum and we try to provide a space where people can discuss space weather in an as friendly way as possible. You made a trolling post and got warned for it. Take it on the chin, get your act together and move on. Also thanks for the PM, I am for sure going to print that out and keep as a souvenir. 😁

But as we are getting on the unproven theories stuff again... I defended it for years but my views and opinions changed and every day that goes by posts like these only reinforce the believe that this call was the right one. There are tons of awesome people here who want to discuss sunspots, solar flares and geomagnetic storms and we rarely have to step in and enforce rules in these kind of discussions. But when it comes to unproven theories and people like yourself... oh boy... we had an interesting two weeks since our announcement haven't we? The amount of backlash and trouble from the tinfoil club... good thing we don't have to deal with that headache anymore.

Listen we are not obligated to provide people like yourself a space to spew whatever nonsense they want on our forum or our living room where you are a guest as @hamateur 1953 rightfully mentioned. We own this place, we make the rules, we decide who gets to post here and what kind of stuff we want to talk about in our living room. You either adept or leave and make your own forum. I mean you can hate me or whatever you think of me, I don't care. But I really dislike banning people. If you really don't like what SWL has become or the way I enforce the rules just leave. You made your point. But for this I only have one advice:
