Interesting situation on X-Ray flux Graphs

Hello, I created this topic because I didn't found any other NORMAL answers regarding this question. As you normally know, the X-Ray flux shows Solar flares, by the GOES X-Ray satellite. The interesting thing that nobody found usable, is that we didn't saw any B class maximum for nearly 3 months now (Normally it's GREEN coloured line). And the given fact that I DIDN'T found any records in the past, showing Minimum amount of C class for another month, made me think that this process is Unusual, then we saw in the past. Tell me what you think about this. If there's some new regulation on the Website, that's the other thing, if not... well... let's discuss

As we see. The last time we saw ("green line") was on  2 May 2024

Could it be greater activity be drowning out the background flux (high signal-low noise ratio), or the strong magnetic structures of recent ARs concentrating activity which would otherwise produce B-flares into what we're seeing recently?

Also find a paper titled 'Investigating the associations between solar flares and magnetic complexity of active regions' in New Astronomy, May 2023 which says:

Our findings reveal that B-flares are negatively correlated with all the sunspot groups, in contrast to other flare classes that are positively correlated and synchronous.

The 13-month smooth values show flare patterns in accordance with solar activity whereby the B-flares indicate a different pattern, reaching peaks when the solar activity is at the minimum phase.

This could be true if constant C/M/X Flares would be produced, but there's a lot of questions.First of all, why would it happens now. Why we didn't saw this kind of picture on Previous solar maximum. Second, if it's true, then why we don't see B class when there is not C flares getting produced. Moreover, I think that this is a new regulation of this Graph, because I don't really believe that in 3 months there were something unusual for the Sun. Given the fact that this Maximum is weaker than we observed in the past, I can be sure that this is something that wasn't told by the website, but got updated.

I suspect that you may be misinterpreting the significance of that line. It represents background flux, or the level in the absence of any flares. If you look back to, say, August 2020 and 2021 you will see that the background level was continuously at A or B levels. We are currently approaching solar maximum so the background level is not falling below C levels.

I believe it's true, but there is some unbound related to the "Duration" of C levels. In fact, If you have any data, that shows duration longer than this background, I would be happy to see that.

Look in the Archive around Aug 2001

If you are really interested in the current levels.  Solar Demon keeps very good track of the smaller stuff and minor events.   I look at it occasionally. You also may select your own baseline to view these.  Mike

Who’s a Solar Demon?
