Happy solstice

Recommended Posts

Hopefully this isn't too far off topic.

I hiked up Mt Minsi in the Appalachians before sunrise today. On the summer solstice, the Sun rises directly behind the Kittatinny Ridge (exact to ~0.1 degrees -- 59.3 degrees east of north and the orientation of the ridge). Pretty neat coincidence. A natural Stonehenge of sorts.

I mostly just lurk, but all the same I've been having a great time learning about our awesome star from all you knowledgeable people.

Happy summer solstice!
