Hey, can everyone tell why sometimes flares are reaally long, what does it means? Like this one we’re observing

There are two types of Flares, the short ones are impulsive Flares. And the second ones are long duration Flares. (LD Flare)

What does ist mean when a LD Flare is happen? The most important difference is the energy that is released. As longer the Flare as more energy will be released. The chances for CME are significantly higher with LD Flares.

Everything else should be answered by the experienced people here, but maybe my answer is already a little help.

In the FAQ section on SWL is a little additional information and two sample images.
