You can create movies on https://helioviewer.org/, but just over half the quality of 4096x4096. JHelioviewer can create videos in 4096 and should support higher quality recordings in the next release, whenever that will be.

ok

If you want the images sized 4096x4096 pixels you click on the word ''archive''. It is a link and you will download the 4096x4096 sized images in a compressed .rar file. It doesn't mean you get 4096 images as a movie.

there is no link there

Indeed this is the website/program you'd want to use!

I'm sorry it indeed isn't I was confused. The SDO website is indeed limited to 500 frames and the largest 4096x4096 images can only be accessed by downloading them in an archive, like a .rar file that you need to extract on your computer. But use jHelioviewer. It is awesome.

JHelioviewer can be found here, https://www.jhelioviewer.org/index.html. Once in JHelioviewer there are several sources of data, but some data may be unavailable as they are working on upgrades.

Edit:
High res playback is actually available now under Tools > Preferences.

The frame limit is 1000 per layer. If you are having some issues loading the layer you can either download it to your computer or delete the layer then create the layer again and it will begin loading again where it left off.

In New Image Layer you can change the Time step and the interval. Along with that when a layer is loaded you can click "Options ⌄" to change the play speed.

Edit:
Also if you download the layers to your computer you can open them all at the same time and it will be one layer.
