Apologies, my original question was not very precise. I understand the significance of the colours but, given this is a Northern hemisphere spot, would you classify it as being from Cycle 24 or 25 ?

The Sun is currently in solar cycle 25. When was the image taken?

Easy. In SC24 the leading spot would have been negative instead of positive. Just compare it with a SC24 region ;) each cycle the polarities switch so it’s easy to find a new cycle spot or see the difference between two cycle regions

Vancanneyt - Thanks, I've only recently started examining these images, and I thought I understood the principle of polarity inversion.  In this case I focused on the large spot and missed the smaller leading spot, which led to me being uncertain.

Archmonoth - This was actually the most recent sunspot region 2833. I was interested in identifying the Terminator for Cycle 24. I suspect that we have already passed that point, and I was fairly sure this was a Cycle 25 spot as it is at 25 deg Latitude.
