SDO servers are down for scheduled maintenance:

Quote

The NASA building which houses the SDO servers will undergo infrastructure maintenance from June 12th through June 13th, 2021. This will require us to shutdown our servers during that timeframe.

The STEREO servers seem to be hosted on the same network:
sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov.    300    IN    CNAME    gs671-sdoweb.ndc.nasa.gov.
gs671-sdoweb.ndc.nasa.gov. 900    IN    A    129.164.137.36
stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov.    137    IN    A    129.164.137.16

So then how is this site (and various others) meant to monitor space weather for the rest of today and most of tomorrow? Are there backups monitoring satellites?

To preface this I don't expect anything major to happen (except for AR2826 rotating towards Earth-facing view), but still.

I agree, that is not solved very well. Also the lack of communication. It would have been little effort to redirect the pages to a simple message "sorry we are down due to maintenance until xyz".

I only knew about the maintenance because they had it on their website during the past days, and recovered the message from google cache.

thank you for the information guys. i figured he wasnt credible since his channel involved biblical prophecies.

I know exactly that you mean "Wages World" , LMAO.

He's been doing those Videos for YEARS now. It is rediculous and makes me very angry, since its just conspiracy bs with little to no science, and if it contains science, its picked apart to fit his conspiracy infused views.

AMOGUS.

well i was talking about "the real bpearthwatch" but wages world sounds just as ridiculous. i feel bad for his viewers since they actually believe that crap. i have nothing against any religion but this is absolutely crazy. they dont use their heads and only believe it because it coincides with their beliefs.

As a casual observer of the comments above and also addressing the thread 'should we be worried' the natural forces we experience on earth from weather systems that we are all familiar with, have a far greater capacity to wreak havoc on our lives than any solar eruption and resulting CME. A storm went through the state I live in, in Australia. People are still without power after 4 days. Two people lost their lives due to flood water. There was only 12 hours of warning for the storm and its severity was greatly underestimated. I doubt whether this event would have made headlines anywhere else in the world though. On the grand scale of catastrophies it wouldn't rate highly.

Also to Drax Spacex re your last comment: Amen

yeah id imagine its unlikely to be destroyed by solar phenomena (hopefully)

NASA might still have access to any current data even though we can't right now as well.

One would think.  But if you try to generate a movie from any of the SDO data you will find a 3-day Gap between dates 20210611-20210614. Were the images captured at all during this period?  Or were they captured but have not yet been back-filled into the image database accessible to web users?  We backseat-driver-armchair observers can only speculate.  I realize GOES provides a backup, but if someone uses SDO as their primary image database, this is an ugly historical gap - not a result of satellite calibration etc., but a result of lack of server failover / reallocation / redirection contingency process.
