SpaceStormChaser
https://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime/eit_171/512/ I’m not usually one that assumes that image issues are due solar activity, but was curious if anyone saw the latest update from EIT on the SOHO site, as it is just going haywire. I’ve seen them blank before, but this looked as though it was a throwback shot of 1985 Super Mario meeting the Sun. Am I correct to assume that it’s just patchy data due to imperfect technology, or does solar activity, such as the current CH HSS play a role of interference? Vancanneyt Sander
SOHO is old, it’s already 25 years in space with technology that’s a bit older than that. So it’s normal that sometimes the data flow isn’t what it supposed to be and data gets corrupted with these strange looking images as result.
Christopher S.
SOHO is a trooper. It's a miracle we get useful data from it at all these days. Let's never take it for granted, eh?
