MinYoongi
Hey Solar-Friends. The new Region poses a 5% X-Class threat. Do I need to be scared now? Im sorry if this sounds so dumb. There's just a LOT of fear Mongering in our Community. Can someone maybe calm me down with that a bit? I really try to be excited for beautiful aurora. You shouldn't worry too much about any flares being large enough to cause issues, we have great protection against these flares. During solar maximum we get X flares quite often and are of little concern to the majority of the population. The most I would expect is an M flare at greatest due to the lack of complexity in the magnetic layout of the sunspot region. I would say this is a region that is good and is of little concern. Might blast a few small-medium CMES in the coming days bringing us to maybe minor storm levels for a pretty show in high latitudes. But even those CMEs seem a little unlikely unless the region develops some delta spots for larger flares. I am hopeful that this region becomes more unstable for large flares in hope that we do get some M flares and an aurora show though.
