Drax Spacex
I downloaded the SDO movies from https://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/data for AIA 171 and AIA 193 spanning the time when this flare occurred. Unfortunately, the images for the duration of the flare are conspicuously missing. Are there alternative sources for the image sequences from August 15, 2020 06:47-07:47 UTC? Bthehutt92
It's not conspicuous. It's "eclipse " season for the sdo, meaning we are going to lose some shots for a few hours from now until September I believe. Happens every year
Drax Spacex
Okay that's a good answer. But I don't think we're quite into the SDO eclipse season yet. According to FAQ #4 the eclipses happen in the three weeks nearest the equinoxes. August 15th is 5 weeks and 3 days away from the September 22nd equinox. There was some eclipsing happening about a week or two ago when you made this. Edited August 21, 2020 by dynastyll
Jesterface23
I checked the imagery and it did eclipse. It started extremely fast blocking out the sun in 6 images or about 3 minutes. Edited August 21, 2020 by Jesterface23
